Chris Leatherdale has been through a lot, but you’d never know it if you met him. Chris was taken to HCMC after suffering burns while saving his horses that were trapped in a barn fire. After spending weeks in our burn unit, he became a patient at our Miland E. Knapp Rehabilitation Center, where patients take time recovering from trauma and begin the long process of rehabilitation.

The staff at Knapp remember Chris fondly. He certainly made an impression on them, not just because of his kind personality, but the determination he brought to every single therapy session. His recovery is better than originally anticipated and he returns to HCMC for laser surgery. Since his accident, he has moved to Nebraska with his wife and three young sons, so it’s a little longer drive, but he visits staff when he’s here. Read his impressive story!
