Eating the right foods can make a big difference in your overall health and wellbeing. Select fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats and whole grains to help you get and stay healthy. If you have certain health conditions, your doctor will advise you to eat specific foods to help manage your illness or condition and avoid complications.

Connect with a person at United Way 211 – Call 2-1-1. A person will help you navigate food resources and food shelves in your community. Help in English, Spanish, Hmong, Somali, and Russian.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – The SNAP Outreach Team at Second Harvest can help. SNAP helps you stretch your food budget and buy healthy food. Support in English and Spanish. Call 651-209-7963.

If you have SNAP benefits, you can now use your EBT card to buy your groceries online at Walmart and Amazon!

Already receiving SNAP benefits, but can't leave your home?

You can authorize a representative to use your EBT card and shop for groceries on your behalf. How to do this:

  1. Find a trusted adult who can shop for you and deliver your groceries.
  2. Call your county or tribal human service agency to have them added as an authorized representative on your case.

Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) – This program provides healthy supplemental foods, nutrition education, and health care referrals to low-income pregnant and postpartum women and to infants and children up to age 5.

Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) – People over age 60, when signed up, can receive a monthly food package full of nutritious, non-perishable food items.

Many food shelves and food programs offer curbside pick-up, and some even do grocery delivery or meal delivery.

House of Charity’s Shelf of Hope

612-594-2000. No geographic restrictions apply.
This food shelf offers each person 1 bag of pre-packed groceries and any other food and hygiene items while supplies last. Provides information handouts on where to find housing and nearby public showers.

CES Food Shelf (Community Emergency Services)

Hours are Monday – Wednesday between 1 PM – 4 PM, and Wednesday evenings between 1 PM- 4 PM. We will also be open on Friday for Bonus Friday, in which we give out many “bonus” food items between 1 PM – 3 PM. Languages: English, Spanish, No geographic restrictions apply. Community members in need of food can come as often as once per month.

For the food shelf drive-thru, please stay in your vehicle. A number will be given to you when you enter our parking lot and you will be told where to wait. Pre-packaged bags of food will be loaded into your vehicle once the food shelf opens. We will be limiting the number of families served each day.

Reminder: You are only allowed to receive food one time a month. There will be no clothing, household items, dental clinic, tax preparation, and no Thursday Farmer’s Market until further notice. Mission Outpost staff will be on-site for food only but will be returning calls and emails during this time. Thank you for your patience.

Neighborhood House Food Market

179 E Robie Street, St. Paul, MN 55107

Neighborhood House Food Market will be distributing pre-packed bags of food to families based on household size. No ID is required to pick up food. You can come to the market whenever you need it (no limit on times per month).

If you are unable to leave your home, there are food programs that are doing home delivery for free or at a reduced cost. Some programs deliver food-shelf groceries and others deliver meals.

How to get home-delivered food

Option #1: Minnesota public schools offer free food delivery right now to enrolled students. Reach out to your Hennepin County public school website.

Option #2: You can also reach out to a food shelf/food program that delivers. Here is a list of some in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties:

  • Food Shelf (Grocery) Delivery: Any household can receive one food shelf box every 2 weeks. The grocery list needs to be sent via email and/or text.
  • Meal Delivery, for Kids and Seniors: youth ages birth to 18 years, and older adults ages 65 and older can get home-delivered meals.
    • Each registered youth gets 7 breakfasts & 7 lunches delivered every week (total of 14 meals per week)
    • Each registered senior gets 7 lunches delivered every week

Help at Your Door

Services are for:

  • People recovering from hospital stays
  • People with sensory or mobility impairment
  • Seniors and people with disabilities who need a little extra help to stay in their homes

Grocery Help includes:

  • Orders can be placed over the phone or online
  • Delivery of grocery items and help with putting items away
  • EBT payments/SNAP benefits are accepted, *There is a sliding scale fee for grocery help, based on household size and earnings.
  • Schedule Grocery Help Service today by completing a request form, or call and leave a message at 651-642-1892.
  • Must be signed up to get food – once you are, it may take between 2-5 days to receive food.
