East Lake Clinic opened October 4, joining many clinic October birthdays

After the devastating destruction of the original East Lake Clinic last summer, we welcome the new re-opened clinic located in the Hennepin County Service Center on East Lake Street. The new clinic is beautiful with stunning views of downtown Minneapolis and the East Lake neighborhood, lovely colors, and lots of natural light. Clinic staff are excited to re-welcome their patients to the new location, even though they were temporarily seeing them at the Whittier Clinic.

October is a good month for our neighborhood clinics. The St. Anthony Village Clinic & Pharmacy turns ten this October 31 and has had an expansion since its opening. Whittier Clinic’s birthday is October 18 and Brooklyn Park’s birthday is October 25, and they also have expanded since its first open.

Neighborhood clinics are an integral part of the Hennepin Healthcare system. They often serve as a front door to the many outpatient and inpatient services offered by the system. Patient care starts with primary care, and those providers often have the longest relationship with patients. Primary care manages day-to-day health needs and focuses on prevention and wellness. A solid relationship with primary care is shown to provide better access to other healthcare services, result in better health outcomes, reduce hospitalizations and emergency department visits, and lower overall costs.

Some specialties can also be accessed in specific clinics for patient convenience. Hennepin Healthcare’s neighborhood clinics can also be found in the North Loop in Minneapolis, and the suburbs of Golden Valley and Richfield. Primary care is also available in the Internal Medicine Clinic in the Clinic & Specialty Center. Besides family medicine and internal medicine, women’s health and pediatrics are also considered primary care. Some of those providers clinic in neighborhood clinics as well as the Women’s Health Clinic and Pediatric Clinic also in the Clinic & Specialty Center.
